Kinshasa - simuliacinis žaidimas pagal Agile projektų valdymo metodikąKinshasa simulation is a workshop meant to practice the tools and techniques of Agile Project Management in a safe controlled environment.
The main purpose of this simulation is to experience the operation of specific projects managed in the agile way. The workshop shows behaviour consistent with the spirit of agile approaches such as collaboration, effective communication, taking responsibility for the decisions taken. They are used in the simulation, among other concepts such as: timebox, increment, stand-up, iteration, and MoSCoW. Participants take the project roles which allow them to learn responsibilities and tools associated with them.
During the simulation we participate in a project of traveling through Western Africa with teams composed of motorcyclists and car support. Your task is to make a film from that journey. The goal of the project is passing a route with the specified start and end and intermediate points that meet specific criteria.
Because we are dealing with the simulation, both the journey and filming will not be going on in a real world. They will be simulated with the help of maps, checkers, event cards etc. True instead will be the excitement! The team taking part in this simulation will be able to make their independent decisions about routes, equipment and resposes to events. It will also bear the consequences of their choices.A sense of cooperation and win or defeat will definitely be real.

After the simulation, participants will be convinced that they not only know the concepts and basic principles of Agile Project Management, but they also understand them and know how to apply them in their own projects.

Mokymų nauda

  • For participants without theoretical foundations of project management the simulation can be an opportunity to meet elements of methodology in a friendly environment and also a way to integrate the team before startin the work together in an agile environment.
  • For the participants with AgilePM Foundation knowledge the simulation allows to deepen their understanding and practice agile tools. It moves them from the level of 'I know' to 'I understand and I can". It can be a very effective step of preparing for AgilePM Practitioner certification.
  • For participants with knowledge and experience of the traditional project management approach (PRINCE2, PMBOK) the simulation is a great opportunity to understand a different (agile) approach to planning and project delivery. This workshop will help them change their behaviour to one that is more consistent with the AgilePM principles.

After the simulation, participants will be convinced that they not only know the concepts and basic principles of Agile Project Management, but they also understand them and know how to apply them in their own projects.

Žaidimo tikslai

Consider the simulation as:

  • a means to implement the change to the project management approach in your company
  • support in building a project culture aligned with the agile approach
  • consolidation of knowledge before certification exams (Agile PM Foundation or Practitioner)
  • project team integration session before the project outset
  • assessment of team communication skills before starting working together.

Žaidimo apimamos Agile temos:

  • Collaboration and shared responsibility for the project success
  • Planning suited to agile projects
  • Making everyday decisions at the team level
  • Building the product incrementally
  • Timeboxing
  • Delivery on time
  • MoSCoW prioritisation
  • Effective reporting (burn-down charts)
  • Applying the principles of AgilePM

Part I. Project planning

This is an equivalent of the Fundamentals phase of the project carried out in accordance with AgilePM.
Some elements, such as the Business Case and Requirement List are given by the authors of the simulation. There is a place for approving a final shape of the team, which then performs according to the agreed project plan using Agile principles and prioritization rules.
At the outset there is the character selection, each of which has its own set of characteristics and skills. Then the newly created team gets a set of objectives and - in accordance with the principles of agile development – plans how to achieve them. In our simulation teams planning routes taking into consideration availability of equipment, people skills and imposed parameters and external constraints. After approving of the plan by decision-makers the Part II begins - the proper expedition.

Part II. Project delivery

This part is divided into increments and timeboxes. Teams will have the opportunity to validate plans created against meeting the objectives. We use change management procedures, project flexibility, we learn how to report on an agile project, etc. - using the right tools.
In this part teams will respond to emerging unexpected events related to the weather, terrain, local culture, politics and equipment - using the skills of their chosen characters. Participants of the expedition communicate frequently and demonstrate how the project progresses, they solve problems within their empowerment, and - if necessary – they escalate issues to a higher level of management.
